NEW YORK (Billboard) - Alicia Keys led Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart for a fifth week on Thursday with "No One," a tune that also logged a tenth week atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. However, the R&B singer is in position to dethrone herself on both charts before long with "Like You'll Never See Me Again."

In what may be the largest early release of inmates in United States history, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration is proposing to open the prison gates next year to some 22,000 low-risk offenders.  According to details of a budget proposal made available to The Bee, the administration will ask the Legislature to authorize the release of certain non-serious, non-violent, non-sex offenders...

LONDON —  A handwritten letter in which Diana, Princess of Wales, claimed that her husband was planning to kill her was revealed in full for the first time yesterday at the inquest into her death.  Written by the Princess in October 1996, she told of her belief that the Prince of Wales wanted her dead so he could marry Tiggy Legge-Bourke, a nanny to Princes William and Harry.

'Great Debaters' Star, Director Wants To Re-Establish Debate Team...Denzel Washington is donating $1 million to Wiley College in Texas to re-establish its debate team.  Wiley is the predominantly black college east of Dallas that's central to the upcoming movie, "The Great Debaters." The film is about their powerful debate team in 1935. Washington, who stars as Wiley professor Melvin B. Tolson, also directed the film.
